PTTK - Polish Tourist Country - Lovers' Society is a NON - PROFIT organisation. It is one of the oldest tourist societies in Europe. It was created by the union of Polish Tatry Society (1873) and Polish Country Lovers Society (1906).
PTTK plans and marks trails in Poland and, in total, all Polish mountains' and lowlands' trails are as long as the equator! PTTK takes care of international trails on Polish territory as well. PTTK has a network of mountain huts, mountain hotels and river camps. PTTK takes care of kayaking trails, cycling trails and horse - riding trails as well.
PTTK gathers those who do hiking, (in the mountains and on the lowlands), cycling, kayaking, horse - riding, sailing and scuba diving. PTTK's branches and clubs, for example, organise thousands of rallies, mountain trips, canoeing and kayaking trips and cruises during which one can obtain different distinctions. PTTK co-operates with other tourist and sightseeing organisations in Poland. PTTK is a member of several international organisations: Aliance Internationale de Tourisme (AIT), Europaische Wandervereinigung Ev. (EWV), Confederation Mondiale des Activites Subaquatiques (CMAS) and European Cycling Federation. PTTK runs Regional Museums, Regional Sightseeing Workshops, Climbing Centre in Krakow, Central Library and Mountains' Library and Sightseeing Photography Centre as well as publishes and co-organises Polish Sightseeing Books Review. PTTK gathers voluntary carers of monuments.
PTTK runs activities preserving nature, organises nature trips and is a part of Nature Preservation Guard. PTTK looks after reserves and nature's monuments.
PTTK's structure is based on more than 336 regional branches, which have legal personality. The headquarters is placed in Warsaw at 11 Senatorska Street.
